Reiki’s Added Value vs. What is Reiki?

As a Rieki master there are a few common questions that come my way. What is Reiki? Why do people need Reiki? I’ve found it hard to answer these questions adequately. A Reiki treatment is more of an experience than something that can be explained. Second, Reiki has no concrete cure to claim. Reiki is certainly not specific to healing only one symptom, ailment or disease.

Subsequently, I often find myself comparing it to acupuncture, pranotherapy, deep meditation, massage or hypnotherapy. In reality it is none of these things. Using these examples falls short of all that Reiki is and the healing Reiki can bring into one’s life.

Naturally, explaining a Reiki treatment seems like the next best way to be more clear. Maybe a video or photos of a Reiki session will help us all understand what it is. Again, this method lacks a true answer and often prompts more questions.

Trying again, sharing before and after Reiki photos along with client reviews seems like the strongest hint at the essence of Reiki. And, yet, this only begins to set stage for the profound value Reiki ushers into life.

There are many in depth manuals and books that have been written about Reiki and its history. There are even books sharing research showing the power of Reiki to heal. Still there is a deficiency to truly convey what Reiki is. To catch the heart of the curious and bring them to the point of why they might want to try a Reiki session.

Consistent Reiki sessions or classes

Then there is the utmost importance of consistent Reiki in one’s life that is completely overlooked even after clients try one Reiki session.  After one session, Reiki energy has just been reignited or reconnected as though just opening a book and reading the forward there is a the entire book to read.

Reiki is the ever-present energy, the Chi, and with each successive Reiki session your cells, body, mind and spirit must all be integrated to this reconnection and amount of energy. If you want to finish the book you must continue reading likewise if you want to heal you must continue Reiki sessions.

Multiple Reiki sessions build a sustainable foundation of healing to build on.

Pondering the lack of true Reiki description and noticing a need to communicate the importance of multiple Reiki sessions, I realized that the more true question needing an answer is, What value does Reiki add to life? instead of What is Reiki?

What value does Reiki add?

Examining the value of Reiki shed light on what Reiki is in more precise ways than any of my previous attempts. Looking at the value of Reiki it is as though there is life before Reiki and then another life after introducing Reiki.

I asked myself, What value has Reiki added to my life? Where have I seen Reiki bring value to my client’s lives?

Answering from my own life experience and the value I see Reiki bring to clients, I found multitudinous values added from consistent Reiki that fell into five main categories.

1. Relaxation and Stress Reduction

Reiki has a way of relaxing my clients to the point of sleep. The more a client comes for Reiki the more easily they can connect to themselves and relax. Clients with debilitating anxiety and panic attacks have over time, through successive Reiki treatments, arrived at a point where they no longer get panic attacks.

2. Better Sleep

Better sleep is often accompanied by Reiki sessions and with time insomnia can be replaced by restful and restorative sleep.

3. Improved Immunity

An improved immune system with Reiki works in a couple of ways. One is if you have a chronic illness or diagnosis like cancer, Reiki sessions help your body heal more effectively leading to more vitality even with illness.

A second way is with illness like the cold or flu. During the cold season with Reiki your immune system is more robust, so you get sick less or have less intense symptoms.

4. Pain Relief

My clients often note pain reduction or complete disappearance of pain from consistent Reiki sessions. Pain relief may mean that you recover faster from your workouts or begin to no longer have pain you have had for many years. Migraines have almost disappeared from my life and several of my client’s lives through repeated Reiki sessions.

5. Improved Performance

Number five is better performance. Along with the above four improvements Reiki helps the mind, body and soul connect more fully. This connection brings heightened awareness and a higher quality of life.

As you begin to relax more, sleep better, have less pain and become more aware you can focus on living more fully. You can take on more responsibility and have more energy to do the things you want to do. As a result, you can more easily reach your goals.

I am talking about increased awareness and connection to the soul here that show up as improved performance. Some examples might include:

Athletes and business professionals who experience consistent Reiki sessions achieve their goals more quickly and powerfully.

Through consistent Reiki sessions, a person who meditates or practices yoga may see their practice suddenly take on a more profound depth.
